Living by Faith & Trust with Ease & Grace
How would your life change if you truly believed that everything—absolutely everything—was working out for your highest good, no matter what?
Imagine waking up every day with that kind of certainty. With that kind of peace. In this post, I want to explore how we can begin living in that space—living by faith and trust with ease and grace.
🌱 The Myth of "One Big Leap"
We all have moments where we take bold, scary steps of faith. Maybe it’s moving to a new country, leaving a job, or starting something entirely new.
For me, it was moving to Costa Rica with my family. We followed Divine Guidance. We listened, we trusted—and everything fell into place. I thought: I’ve got this faith and trust thing down!
But here’s what I’ve learned since: faith and trust are not one-time achievements. They are moment-by-moment choices. It’s easy to trust when things are flowing beautifully. It’s harder when fear creeps back in—when the future feels unclear, or when old doubts start to resurface.
Even after the big leap, I found myself worrying again, overthinking again, doubting again.
That’s when I realized: I was being called into a deeper daily practice of faith and trust.
🌀 Why Don’t We Always Trust?
If we’ve experienced the power of trust, why don’t we live there all the time? Here’s what I’ve noticed—maybe you can relate:
🔒 We Seek Security in the Wrong Places
We look for safety in things like money, careers, relationships… but they aren’t reliable sources of peace. The world changes. Jobs come and go. People change. Markets shift. Even when we “do everything right,” things don’t always go as planned.
📋 We Cling to Plans & Expectations
We’re taught to have everything figured out. A five-year plan. A retirement plan. A neatly packaged timeline. But when we cling to these plans, we can’t hear the Voice for God.
Control is a sign that we’re listening to fear, not Spirit.
Letting go of control is what opens the channel to peace.
🌊 How to Live by Faith & Trust (with Ease & Grace)
Here are five practices that have helped me—and might help you—cultivate a deeper, more joyful trust in life.
1️⃣ Let Go of the Fear of Getting It Wrong
One of the biggest blocks to trust is the fear that we’ll make the “wrong” decision. But here’s the truth: you can’t mess up your life.
Even when we ignore guidance, we’re not being punished. We’re simply choosing to learn through contrast. Everything is still being gently guided for our good.
2️⃣ Clarify What Truly Matters to You
Ask yourself: What are my values? Am I living according to what I truly value—or just what I’ve been taught to value?
This practice has been a game-changer for me. Any time I find myself wide awake at night spiraling in fear or worry, Spirit gently reminds me: “What you’re stressing about doesn’t even reflect your true values.” It’s usually a fear that’s been programmed by the world—not one that belongs to me.
When I return to what I truly value—freedom, connection, peace, love—I can feel my nervous system settle and my clarity return.
As A Course in Miracles says:
“Let me remember that my goal is God... all that is needful is to train our minds to overlook all little senseless aims, and to remember that our goal is God.” (Lesson 258)
This process of defining your values might sound simple, but it can be incredibly illuminating. 3️⃣ Practice Detachment
Letting go isn’t about giving up. It’s about loosening our grip on how we think life should look so we can receive what’s truly meant for us. It’s the difference between trying to control every outcome and allowing Spirit to guide the way.
This principle came into focus for me when my husband and I made the decision to move back to the U.S. after two years in Costa Rica. It wasn’t dramatic or full of turmoil—it was actually very peaceful and clear. A number of things pointed us back home: John Mark had spent that time writing and recording a new album and was ready to return to playing live music. We were also feeling the absence of community—missing our friends, families, and so many milestones while we were away. The message was clear: it was time.
Making that decision without attachment allowed it to unfold with grace. Detachment doesn’t mean we don’t care—it means we’re rooted in trust instead of fear. And when we do that, life opens up in the most beautiful ways.
4️⃣ Celebrate the Unknown
“The unknown is the field of all possibilities.” – Deepak Chopra
“Everything you want is in the unknown.” – Joe Dispenza
I love those quotes because they remind me: the mystery is not a threat—it’s a gift. The unknown is where miracles happen. When we cling to the known, we block what Spirit wants to deliver.
5️⃣ Hold the Vision & Let Go
Visioning has been one of my most powerful tools. Not just planning—but visioning with Spirit. I hold my intention lightly, and then let it go. I live, I play, I trust that Spirit is orchestrating the highest outcome.
The more I grasp, the more I block. The more I let go, the more ease I experience.
🕊 What If I Miss My Guidance?
Sometimes we hear guidance loud and clear… and we don’t follow it. Then what?
Well, I don’t believe we’re punished or that we’ve failed in some way. In my experience, when we ignore guidance, we’re simply choosing to learn through contrast—and Spirit meets us there, too.
Several years ago, I had an intuitive nudge to drive to Montgomery when my father-in-law went into the hospital. I felt the guidance, but I didn’t follow it—and we missed the opportunity to say goodbye. That experience stayed with me. At the time, I couldn’t make sense of it. But over time, I’ve come to trust that even in moments that feel painful or unclear, there’s something deeper at work.
We’re only seeing a sliver of the whole picture. The Course teaches that “a happy outcome to all things is sure,” and I believe that includes the moments where we second-guess or miss the mark. Spirit isn’t keeping score. We’re always gently being led back to peace.
💞 The Power of Joining
A Course in Miracles says:
“Two minds with one intent become so strong that what they will becomes the Will of God.”
When we come together to hold space for truth, clarity, or healing, we amplify the field of miracles. That’s why I love working with clients one-on-one—and why group practice is so powerful, too.
We don’t have to figure it out alone.
🌈 You Can Let Life Be Easy
Faith and trust aren’t about knowing the plan.
They’re about knowing you’re held.
So here’s your invitation:
Don’t overthink. Don’t make pros and cons lists.
Stop asking for a five-year plan.
Start listening to your intuition.
Start trusting the unfolding.
Start playing. Start living. Start letting it be easy.
“The more uncertain things seem to be, the more secure I will feel, because uncertainty is my path to freedom.” – Deepak Chopra
May you walk forward in faith, trust, ease, and grace. 💛
